Wow, almost 3 months since I last posted an update. I've been busy working on work-related stuff (gotta pay the bills), but hopefully I should be able to sneak some more time in up to and over the Xmas/New Year period.
Anyway, time to tackle the elephant in the room. As I have seemingly been abandoned by more talented modellers, I guess I'm stuck dealing with the bloody spider's nest. Not sure yet what I'm going to do for the actual nest itself, but I have a plan for the pathways around it. I'm not sure if this was the original artist's intention or not, but it seems to me like the webs are actually just covering up a pre-existing pathway, and spanning broken sections of it. That's what I am going to go for anyway, so it won't be anywhere near as webby as the original. I've started to rough in the shape:
The missing sections will be bridged by webbing. With a bit of alpha transparency, that should make for some nice vertigo, at least from the over-the-shoulder camera.
