Motherboard manufacturer Biostar today announced its latest addition to the Hi-Fi family, the B85Z5 motherboard operating on Intel's B85 chipset. The board is usable for 4th-Gen Intel CPUs using the 1150 socket. As with all B85 boards, Biostar's new unit will have somewhat locked overclocking functionality, making it a better partner to non-K SKU CPUs and business users.
The Hi-Fi motherboards from Biostar are named such for their on-board audio amplifiers and focus on higher-quality aftermarket audio components. Other offerings are made by the B85 chipset, including IRST, Intel SBA (Small Business Advantage), security protection, automated virus scanning and data backups, and blocked installation of unknown USB drives.
Media compatibility includes Blu-Ray support with a 24-bit audio throughput at 192KHz.
Biostar notes that its business-class B85Z5 uses solid capacitors and durable ferrite chokes, theoretically improving system stability and improving power efficiency.
