NZXT GRID+ V2 Fan Controller & Profiler Announced

Posted on August 13, 2015

NZXT's GRID fan hub today sees the launch of its second revision, the GRID+ V2. The GRID started off as a hub, not dissimilar from what's found on the motherboard tray of some cases, and has since expanded to offer individually controllable fan channels.

The GRID+ V2 continues on NZXT's quest to create a vertical stack of software-controlled hardware, integrating with the CAM interface through Windows. CAM allows system builders to modify fan speeds for devices connected to the GRID+ V2, which hosts six independent fan channels. The new controller and hub supports 3-pin and 4-pin PWM fans, with a combined total output of 30W.

Of the CAM support, NZXT said:

“With CAM support, the GRID+ V2 allows you to name your fans and adjust your fan speeds easily using versatile preset or custom fan profiles. Preset fan profiles allow easy control, while our custom fan profiles allow you to create your own fan curve and have GRID+ V2 raise/lower fan speeds based on temps. Full mobile control is planned to be released in 2016 on Android and iOS through our CAM Mobile platform.”

As we praised on NZXT's N450, the fan controller hosts a suite of protections from overvoltage and short-circuits, something we wish more fan hubs would integrate (having killed a few).

NZXT has not yet begun shipping the new controller, but allows pre-orders through its website. The controller should appear here once live on Newegg.
