F2P MMOG Dragonian Beta to Give Away GPUs, Cash for Testing

Posted on February 9, 2012

Mgame USA has released new information on its new free-to-play MMOG, Rise of the Dragonian (or RODE). A recent press release scheduled their second beta test for this weekend, February 11th and 12th, from 8am to 8pm PST. This will be the final beta test before the game's official release. To encourage gamers to try out their game, Mgame has put large giveaway opportunities on the table.

The game is based in the new land of Piral, a world wracked in chaos as two separate factions duke it out for total control (sounds like real life!). The player is able to choose which of the two factions to join and can pick from 6 races, 4 classes, and 8 specializations for their character. The player gets a mount, as with most good MMOGs, but get this: you can fight on the mount! I know! Even better, the mount could be a flying mount. What is better than a flying mount? A flying mount that you can fight on, of course! On top of all of this, the player can have a pet dragon that assists in combat. Each player can get ahold of a dragon egg and hatch their new-found companion to aid in the personalization of characters in RODE.

After launch, the Mgame team plans on implementing castle sieges for players who want to defend or attack keeps across nations (think RvR-lite). While free, the game has some microtransaction-y elements, like pay-to-use items that can enhance the game if you're willing to put up the cash for it. Fortunately, these items are not mandatory to play the game. RODE boasts a fully fleshed-out experience, to include: Tribes (guilds), auction houses, professions, upgrades, and a few other add-ons.

Mgame is offering yet another incentive to try their new game: beta prizes. Four players over the weekend will each receive $500 cash, four will win a GTX 560 EVGA video card ($200 value), and eight will win new Logitech G35 surround-sound headsets (valued at $130 each), and even more players will win in-game currency to help along the way. Time permitting, there's no reason not to give free MMOGs a shot these days -- even if the game ends up terrible, you could win some free stuff, and who doesn’t like free stuff?
