Free-to-Play FEAR Online Horror FPS Receives Release Date

Posted on September 29, 2014

F2P online games publisher Aeria Games today announced that F.E.A.R. Online has received a Steam release date of October 17. FEAR Online is a follow-up to the existing FEAR franchise – one of the best-known horror shooters (though not particularly scary when compared to the likes of Amnesia) – and ships in the free-to-play variety.

FEAR Online stakes its claim to distinction in its crafting system, “terrifying” story, and parallel progression to FEAR 2: Project Origin. The new F2P title is built for a maximum of four-player co-operative mode, wherein players combat Armacham personnel and the various monsters of Fear's universe.

In a statement to the press, Aeria Games had this to say:

“Fans of the celebrated horror franchise will be able to engage in new, terrifying experiences within the F.E.A.R. universe. Following player feedback from the closed beta, an extensive redesign and gameplay adjustments make for a truly unique first-person shooter game. With the addition of new maps, a new scenario, and a redesigned crafting system which allows for making one-of-a-kind weapons, F.E.A.R. Online will deliver what fans have been asking for.”

The game is slated for an October 17 launch. We're yet unsure of exactly how “free” the “free-to-play” title will be, but it doesn't cost anything to give it a shot. You'll be able to find FEAR Online at this location: http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/223650/
