News The Best of April Fools' Gaming Gags - 2011
Labels: HumorGaming Culture

The ingenuity of April Fools' enablers has increased with each year -- it has rapidly become an internet tradition, but more importantly, it's become a gaming tradition. We've picked out the most entertaining, most devious April Fools' gags of the year: Guild Wars 2's commando class, Blizzard's StarCraft Motion, and Duke Nukem's excrement challenges.

Yeah, you read that right. Continue on for the best videos and websites of April Fools' 2011!

5 - Baldur's Gate II Redux - Government District Drumming

4 - ThinkGeek Minecraft Nether Portal

The team over at ThinkGeek -- after much debate over the merits of a rounded vs. squared-off nether portal -- devised a method to get rid of all that paperwork: send it into the nether of Minecraft.

3 - StarCraft Motion

When I asked GN member Space_man why an archon would be able to kill so many units, he responded: "They had to make archons more powerful for the console players. Everything has to do something awesome and they weren't doing enough damage compared to how blue and glowy they looked."

Ah, now it makes sense. Enjoy.

2 - Duke Nukem Forever: Feces Throwing

1 - Guild Wars 2 Commando Class

The video speaks for itself. "That's a big chicken."

What do you guys think? Was this year a weak year for April Fools jokes? What are you looking forward to in gaming?

I am gonna be the commando class in GW2. They seem the most balanced to me.

That DNF video isn't really an April Fool, is it? I mean, that's totally in the game.

Correct, it's in the game... it was just released coincidentally.
