Hardware Sales - Seagate 4TB HDD for $100, 16GB DDR4 $102, R7 1700

Posted on April 23, 2017

DDR4 prices continue to increase with no sign of slowing down, but this week Newegg has a sale on a 16GB kit of DDR4 from G.SKILL for $102. Sadly, this is a good deal in the current market. Non-flash storage devices have become cheaper as more of the market adopts SATA and M.2 SSDs, including a sale going on for a Seagate 4TB mechanical drive for $100. We have also highlighted a decent deal on a 750W PSU from Thermaltake, in addition to a discount on the Ryzen 1700 CPU.

Seagate 4TB BarraCuda HDD ($100) - Amazon currently has a sale on the Seagate 4TB BarraCuda HDD for $100. At $0.025 per GB, for those who have large storage needs, this is a good deal right now. The 4TB BarraCuda is a SATA-based 6 Gb/s drive spinning at 5900 RPM and follows the traditional 3.5-inch form factor. The Seagate 4TB BarraCuda HDD comes with a 2-year warranty.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 ($320) - Our initial review of the R7 1700 found that, if overclocked, it performed similarly to the R7 1800X ($470) for a lower price. Amazon is currently discounting the R7 1700 by about $10, making it an even more attractive offer when compared to the higher SKUs of the R7 family. The R7 1700 comes out of the box at 3.0 GHz base and has a boost frequency of 3.7 GHz, and the CPU also ships with the Wraith Cooler if you do not have an AM4-compatible cooler.

Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU ($50) - Newegg is currently running a sale through Thursday, April 27th on the Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU for $50 after rebate card. This is an 80 Plus Gold certified unit with a +12V rail, all Japanese capacitors, and semi-modular black cables. The Toughpower 750W normally retails for $80 making this one of the better deals of the week.

G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB (2x8GB) 2400 ($102) - DDR4 deals have been scarce lately as prices continue to increase. This week a 16GB (2x8GB) kit of G.SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4-2400 is on sale at Newegg for $102. The kit comes with a red heatspreader and runs at 2400 MHz with timings of 15-15-15-35 (a Cas Latency of 15). The deal on the G.SKILL Ripjaws kit runs through Thursday, April 27th.

These are some of the best deals we could find this week. Be sure to check out our YouTube channel as well as the site for more review coverage this week.
