GeForce Pro/Am Tournament Tonight

Thursday, 29 September 2011

Today, September 29th, 2011 there will be an event - but not just any event; nay, for this is an event of great importance for our continued survival in this competitive world where no tournament is safe from trolls and no team is safe from disbanding -- would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance -- just one chance, to come back here and troll MMA? Today, at 6 PM PST, the StarCraft II Pro/Am will be taking place in your home, from your internet streaming device, or maybe you feel like being adventurous and have the chance to go to the BarCraft Event at Mad Dog in the Fog in San Francisco.

We often -do- think with portals here at Gamers Nexus, and our interview with Erik Wolpaw encourages that. One day, for instance, I found Steve "Lelldorianx" Burke talking to himself and looking at a wall, then he jumped into the wall and broke his nose. The moral of the story, obviously, is that Portal is a good game. It also makes people break their noses -- but hey, we're gamers. We heal faster than normal people. Despite some of the repeated puzzles and trials, Portal 2 blew our minds, and we're happy to inform those of you who have gone portal-less for years that the original Portal is now available for free.

If you've already beaten Portal thoroughly into submisison, why not try out this Portal Prelude mod?

Sheth and Destiny Stream For Charity

Wednesday, 14 September 2011

Twenty-four hours can be a long time - especially when the topic has anything to do with the Zerg race. A twenty-four-hour charity drive is being hosted by two great Zerg players -- Shawn "Sheth" Simon and Steven "Destiny" Bonnell II -- who are ambitiously striving to raise $20,000+ within the ensuing hours. Liquid TLO did a 24 hour livestream event as well, and seems to be the one that started this trend by donating all of the proceeds to Doctors without Borders

Now that MLG Raleigh (our video montage here, for those that missed it) has cooled down and MLG Orlando and Providence are coming up (where the hell is 'Providence,' anyway?), we had a chance to sit down and talk with vileSpanishiwa from the StarCraft 2 pro community, who is known for his Zerg strategies (and Ultralisks). Of course, we all know about STBomber's rise to power in Raleigh, but Spanishiwa has been a favorite of ours for months now -- he's a showman, and he's good at it. Below is a brief video interview, which is accompanied by an extended text interview. If you're interested in pro gaming, StarCraft, or going pro, check it out!
