Looking to upgrade my PC. Plan to go with Ryzen, and am torn between an X370 and B350. I don't plan to Crossfire, but I do currently have a 390X and a 480. I let them mine ethereum when I'm not using the pc. Just want to make sure I can still do this with a B350 board.

Thanks in advance.

x370 has 2 pciex16 slots. b350 has one. As long as you only want to use one pciex16 slot (eg one graphics card) you'll be fine.

You can use different GPUs in different PCIe slots, the cards are going to be recognised and working either way - but there are some limitations though:

- If the second GPU has a different architecture or the board doesn't support CrossFire, only the Primary card (usually the one in the 1st PCIe slot) will be used for displaying and gaming and the second card can only be used for calculations.

- A 390X or a 480 will be bottlenecked if they run lower then 8x (like 4x, 1x - i.e. only 4 pcie lanes). The B350 chipset supports 16 pcie lanes in total, so you could run an 8x/8x config (if the board allows that) just fine - but if you plug anything more in that uses PCIe lanes, like a Soundcard, an SSD or a Network card, a card will suffer performance loss (because it can no longer use 8 pcie lanes). Also: Some B350 boards don't have more then one full-length slot, meaning any second GPU installed will be limited.

- It's not guaranteed to work. Your best bet (apart from a X370 board) would be a board were a multi-gpu setup is mentioned in the specification (like "Crossfire 8x/8x" or similar).
