Howdy! I am looking for a new case and kinda torn between the Thermaltake View 31, which looks great and gets some really good reviews on performance... but no one ever goes quite as far in depth as GN does with their reviews. I am more than willing to drill some air holes into the front acrylic (I have very fine drillbits etc which can leave polished holes) if the airflow isn't that great. I currently have the Chaser MK-I which is incredible, best case ever... Doesn't fit a 360mm radiator though :/.

I am more curious if anyone has had a hands on experience with this case! I'll mention the other case I am looking at later if someone has an opinion or hands on of the View 31, the RGB version is cheap enough I'd spring fo rit. I am also looking at the View 71 but not sold on it because of its price and size, so Iam looking at these "mid" towers mostly.

Thanks!

Torn between the V31 and what?

What do you want to put in the case? Got a Partpicker link?

Majority of my build is already done;

Asus X470 ROG Strix
Ryzen 2600x
16gb DDR4 3200 Trident Z (GSkill)
R9 290x (will upgrade when both 11XX and Navi are out, whichever has Tensor cores)
Corsair 850watt modular

I am going to be picking up the Thermaltake Floe Riing 360mm radiator which is a deciding factor. Its the only reason I am going to move away from my Thermaltake Chaser MK-I. And I've been fearing this because as soon as I say which the other case is, I am sure everyone will just go "get that" since its Thermaltake vs Lian-Li.

I am looking at the Lian-Li 011 Dynamic, kind of stuck because its... Hard to fit a real GPU into it width wise and to get proper airflow I'll need to get upwards of 5 extra fans. So it is already $26 more than the View 31, and will be looking at $60 of proper static pressure fans. 4 120/140mm's, and 1 80mm to blow air into the case over the VRM's. 2 on the top, radiator on the side, 2 on the bottom blowing air up into the GPU and one past the GPU upwards.

Thanks for the response btw. I have been peeking at the V37 but that acrylic window will just become scratch city... The View 71 is cool but a little overpriced and I almost want a slightly smaller case. The View 31 and O-11 dynamic fit the size bill well. The 0-11 Air sounds interesting but... Who knows when that will come to Canada.

I think you're overbuilding it. A 280mm radiator would be fine with a 2600X. Plus 2 fans (or 1 x 200mm) at the front and maybe 1 at the rear would also be fine.

Kiiiind of, the Thermaltake 360mm Floe Riing is a little bit on the thinner side and even though it tops all the tests I am not sure if the 280mm rad will cool as well... there are no reliable reviewers for it currently and I don't think Gamers Nexus will ever get around to doing the 280mm version.

Its a bit of an overbuild, but it does help on noise and looks pretty at the end of the day haha. I am still really torn on which case to go for though, the Lian Li O-11's require you to buy so many fans to get them working well, and the Thermaltake View 31 RGB comes with three fans but a clunky RGB controller and a closed off front panel.

If the View 37 had a top vent and went tempered glass instead of the acrylic it would be perfect especially with that side case intake/exhaust for a 360mm radiator. But alas they put that scratchy acrylic in it :/.

I've got a H110 280mm radiator mounted in top to cool my 24x7 OC'd R7 1700. I have no problems with CPU temps at all.
On top of that I have one 200mm fan in front and a 140mm rear fan. This provides enough air flow to keep my R9 Nanos cool.

The difference between the 360 and the 280 is only radiator size (well, and fans, obviously)
and the performance difference of those isn't much either (360 beeing maybe 1-5° cooler, but 280 beeing slightly quiter).

From what I've seen (and tested with my 2700X), you'll likely hit a power limit or that steep voltage curve before cooling becomes really an issue. For normal overclocking around the 1.4V mark, either cooler will be fine and anything beyond that requires exotic cooling solutions anyways.

And the Lian Li o-11 Cases don't really require that many additional fans. One as bottom intake and maybe one as top exhaust, but everything else wouldn't really change much. (Keeping in mind that the AiOs come with two or three fans included, so the other two fans are only really to benefit GPU and MoBo VRMs).

And putting a top vent or TG on a View 37 would increase the costs astronomically and kinda defeat it's gimmick, because there are already plenty of cases with TG and a Top vent on the marked.
