Corsair Unveils High-End M63MM RGB Mechanical Gaming Mouse

Posted on April 1, 2015

Just weeks ago, our Corsair tour privileged us to highly-sensitive information that was placed under embargo until further notice. Today, Corsair lifted the embargo on their new M63MM RGB Mechanical Gaming Mouse, a device equipped with the company's patent-pending BIG ball-mouse technology.

The company unveiled its new gaming device in a YouTube video, showing off its impressive surface-tracking technology and introduction of a mechanical “clicky” feel. Corsair Product Marketing Manager Jason Christian told us about his involvement in the revolutionary project: “I just really want everyone to know that I'm a former professional Counter-Strike player,” Jason enunciated, looking past me and to our camera operator, “did you get that? Was the mic on?” The once-pro went on to provide a press kit with screenshots of his best K:D ratios.

Jason indicated that his creation of the “best mechanical mouse in the world” offers a mechanical tactility not afforded by standard laser sensors. Removal of the antiquated optical sensor was an arduous process for the company, which ultimately employed test equipment that the PR team calls a “High Arc Maximum Matrix Eradication Railer.” We reached out to Corsair Global PM George Makris, who had his hands all over the ball technology developed in-house. Asking for an overview of the new test equipment, Makris recoiled “What? Did the marketing guys tell you that? It's a hammer. I gave them a hammer.”

The M63MM RGB Mechanical Gaming Mouse went through a round of ball analysis. Mouse balls are placed in an internal cup that uses gravity to align the ball with the surface, so to ensure optimized ball feel, Corsair used test procedures to determine which balls would hang the lowest without getting in the way of movement.

We hope to inspect the balls in our M63MM review sample in short order.
