NZXT Kraken G12 GPU Bracket Announced for Hybrid Mods

By Published April 12, 2017 at 3:35 pm

We’ve been one of the most active in modding newly-launched GPUs with “hybrid” cooling solutions, and even recently began running thermal tests on VRM components alongside said mods. Before we ever did hybrid mods, NZXT launched its G10 bracket – back in 2013 – to tremendous success and adoption. That adoption died off over time, mostly due to new GPU launches that weren’t clear on compatibility, and NZXT eventually was met by competition from Corsair’s HG10.

After years of living on the G10, NZXT finally launched a revival to its Kraken GPU cooling bracket line: The NZXT Kraken G12. The G12, like the G10 and HG10, is a bracket that sockets to video cards and braces closed-loop coolers against the GPU. This bracket is accompanied by a small VRM fan, sized at 92mm and of axial design. The cooler proper is sold separately, with the Kraken G12 supporting most Asetek-made coolers (entire Kraken line, obviously, alongside several Corsair coolers).

The bracket is $30. Installation will consist of disassembly of the video card – not terribly difficult, and we’ve got a guide – and adding the bracket with a few screws. We’ll probably review one of these once they start shipping.

Steve started GamersNexus back when it was just a cool name, and now it's grown into an expansive website with an overwhelming amount of features. He recalls his first difficult decision with GN's direction: "I didn't know whether or not I wanted 'Gamers' to have a possessive apostrophe -- I mean, grammatically it should, but I didn't like it in the name. It was ugly. I also had people who were typing apostrophes into the address bar - sigh. It made sense to just leave it as 'Gamers.'"

First world problems, Steve. First world problems.
