More Gold, Your Majesty! Battles of Ardania Detailed

The hilarious fantasy kingdom simulator, Majesty 2 (reviewed here), returns triumphantly from its short delve into the darkened rooms of developers. The new expansion pack bolsters its prevailing themes of sarcasm and self-deprecating humor with a whole slew of new monsters, characters, maps, and more! The full list of new features can be found below.

A new "Heirs of the Night" campaign has you back to the basics of Majesty: protect the kingdom and your borders through careful use of heroes and heroines; unlike most strategy games, Majesty 2 prides itself on using a 'quests and awards' system. You know all those games where you are 'the hero' and you perform quests for the king? In Majesty, you're the king - and all your subjects fulfill needs of the kingdom based entirely on whether the allotted reward is worth the risk. If you need a rat slain, throw down a measly 100 GP reward and it shall be done! A dragon might require some more encouragement, but you get the picture.

Heirs of the Night projects eight new missions, an unannounced number of new monsters (simply stated, "several"), four new multiplayer maps and two co-operative missions, and new weapon sets and items. For those unfamiliar with Majesty, as King, you can order the construction of smithies, magic shops, potion vendors, and the like; heroes will use their quest rewards to purchase these items (wouldn't it be cool if you could put item rewards, too?), thus recycling the money back into your coffers. Tabletop RPG veterans will find the game particularly amusing!

We will be reviewing the game as soon as it is made available, so check back soon. The scheduled release date for Majesty 2: Battles of Ardania is set for November 9th.

Steve Burke

Steve started GamersNexus back when it was just a cool name, and now it's grown into an expansive website with an overwhelming amount of features. He recalls his first difficult decision with GN's direction: "I didn't know whether or not I wanted 'Gamers' to have a possessive apostrophe -- I mean, grammatically it should, but I didn't like it in the name. It was ugly. I also had people who were typing apostrophes into the address bar - sigh. It made sense to just leave it as 'Gamers.'"

First world problems, Steve. First world problems.
