Pepcom/CES are in 2 Days - And We'll Be There. Here's Why You Care:

Posted on January 5, 2013

The biggest electronics and hardware convention of the year is just a few days away. Insanity - pure insanity. The International CES—known to many as the Consumer Electronics Show (though we're told we'll be paddled and put in a corner if we call it that)—runs from January 8th through January 11th and is hosted all throughout Vegas; the show takes place in the multi-million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), the famed Venetian, and the hotels/suites along the strip.

In 2-3 days from now, we will be posting about dozens of new product releases and providing our hands-on experiences with them; be sure to hit the site daily for constant updates on CES.

What Is CES?

For our purposes, CES is the single largest collection of hardware vendors in one location. Everyone who's anyone is there, in terms of computer hardware, and we've aligned several interviews to discuss new technologies. All of the hardware for the year will be spoiled this coming week, and if last year is any indication, we should hear all about the upcoming Haswell generation of Intel CPUs, AMD's Excavator (if they'll entertain our questions) and Steamroller, nVidia/AMD's new GPU ventures, and every other component you can imagine.

Pepcom is sort of the pre-show to CES, although the two are not officially connected, and functions as a press-only event in the evening of January 7th. We'll be there to get a first look at some of the new products fromKingston, Plantronics, Acer, Logitech, and many others. After this show, we spend all night writing and then dive into the first day of CES, where we immediately work with Intel, AMD, nVidia, and Samsung.

As our recent reddit post described, we'll be talking to several vendors through the course of the week, so if you've got questions, now's the time to pass them along to us. Here's who we're talking to as of now:

"Why Do I Care?"

For our regular readership, most of you self-identify as hardware enthusiasts, system builders, or people generally interested in understanding your gaming PC. This event will connect our editors with engineering staff who are trained to discuss upcoming generations of hardware, at which point we will write new guides and analytical posts that will aid you in future hardware purchases. We also hope to get some specific gaming insight from the major companies present, theoretically giving us a hardware roadmap for 2013-2014.

The best way to show your support of gaming, hardware, and GN would be to send us any of your questions or check the site throughout the impending week. It's going to be a long one.

Really, this post is just a quick shout for those interested in new hardware releases. The majority of them for the year will be next week, so stay tuned. Follow us on twitter for more instant updates from the show floor.
