Skyrim and Oblivion are good games at the core, but what really makes them special is their modability. Our complete Skyrim overhaul changes Bethesda’s landscape into an entirely new, fresh world with 4K resolution textures, new quest content, cities, graphics, and more. And like the others, Bethesda’s open world RPG, Fallout 3, does not disappoint in this area. Despite being released in 2008, Fallout 3 is still one of the best post-apocalyptic games out there, but with mods -- many still being developed -- can renovate FO3 entirely.
And today we are going to show you how to do just that. In this total Fallout 3 2014 graphics & content overhaul, we’ll compile the best Fallout 3 graphics mods, content / quest mods, mechanics overhauls, and more.
Bethesda announced ‘Battlecry’ yesterday, its upcoming free-to-play melee action game. Battlecry is being developed by the studio of the same name for PC and supports up to 32-player matches.
Battlecry pits up to 16 players against one another on each side for bloody multiplayer combat featuring swords, axes, laser crossbows, and hand-to-hand combat. It mixes a few themes and art styles to form a unique blend of medieval, post-apocalyptic, B-movie, and more historically-based visuals.
Bethesda Softworks' TES III: Morrowind is responsible for much of my love for bombastic fantasy environments and storylines within games. Morrowind had a sort of charm to it -- and some of this is admittedly nostalgic -- but the game felt big. Sure, having the view distance of bat contributed to that, but the resonance of a fantastical atmosphere truly made the game feel unique: Towering, domesticated silt striders used as a form of transport, airborne jellyfish (Netch), and the groan-inducing shriek of cliff-racers all felt like something out of an R. A. Salvatore novel.
And, for those of you who played Morrowind when it came out, hold onto your olds: It's been nearly 15 years. Ouch.
I’m a music buff, so a quick preamble: Joy Division was arguably the pioneering band of post-punk, and several other bands adopted their rhythms, lyrics, and instrumental effects. But after singer and lyricist Ian Curtis’ suicide, the surviving members of the band still achieved commercial and critical success under the name New Order.
Bethesda now acts as the surviving members of the once-Joy Division of FPS games - the Wolfenstein franchise. The challenge for Bethesda and developer Machine Games is resurrecting the fun and intensity of the franchise while updating it to modern shooter standards. I give you Wolfenstein: The New Order.
In this hands-on preview of Wolfenstein: The New Order at PAX East 2014, we'll discuss the game's merits, shortcomings, and visual effects.
