Today marks the official unveil of Star Citizen's FPS module, an add-on to the existing “Arena Commander” DFM (Dog-Fighting Module). For those caught unawares, Star Citizen has raised nearly $60 million in crowd-sourced funding and aims to be one of the biggest, most comprehensive space simulators of gaming history. We've written about the game several times in the past, including a previous overview of plans for the First-Person Shooting element.
The world's most heavily crowdfunded game, Star Citizen (now at $60 million), just announced that the impending Star Citizen Fan Event in Melbourne will showcase the FPS module for the first time. The Star Citizen Fan Event will be held in Melbourne, Australia on November 1 at 9PM local time -- that'd be 6AM EST on Saturday, for East Coasters. Viewers worldwide will be able to tune-in to the broadcast on the Roberts Space Industries website.
From Danish developer Zero Point Software, Interstellar Marines is an in-development single player / competitive multiplayer / co-op FPS featuring space marines (obviously) in the near-ish 21st century future. The game is based in that middle-era of sci-fi where mankind has ventured into space to find new life forms, but hasn't quite worked out how to not be promptly murdered by them (think Alien).
We’ve been asked to take a look at Interstellar Marines for preview and review purposes -- here are some of our thoughts.
F2P online games publisher Aeria Games today announced that F.E.A.R. Online has received a Steam release date of October 17. FEAR Online is a follow-up to the existing FEAR franchise – one of the best-known horror shooters (though not particularly scary when compared to the likes of Amnesia) – and ships in the free-to-play variety.
It's rare that GN Editor Steve and I are able to play games at trade shows, and even rarer that we enjoy them. Alas, following-up on our Nosgoth coverage, it's time we played Human Head Studios' Minimum, published by Atari.
Named for the game's minimalistic styling, developers Human Head Studios aimed to make a twitch-shooter with borrowed MOBA mechanics. The result is a 5v5 third-person shooter with dialed-back MOBA lane/creep aspects and, despite the seemingly odd combination, we think it works.
Insurgency is a full-fledged multiplayer FPS game based on the Source mod of the same name, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat. It features a realistic, tactical style of play, but tries to expand accessibility in the new version. The release date for Insurgency (formerly called “Insurgency 2”) was January 22, 2014 and is available on PC now.
Chaos brimmed from Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall servers this weekend as players invited to the beta (which is now open) ventured into the game to try it out. Despite serious initial video issues and other bugs and odd benchmark performance, Titanfall's gameplay can at times be relatively smooth and strategic.
I have a good deal of criticism to dish out in another article, but for now, we'll stick to the tactical discussion. This Titanfall strategy guide will cover Last Titan Standing tips, tricks, and gameplay mechanics to help elevate level of play.

Whether you're new to the game entirely or already excited about it, this Titanfall intro & gameplay preview tells you everything we know about the game so far, including information on the weapons, maps, and most importantly, the Titans.
