Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Low-Profile Cooler Specs

Posted on April 19, 2015

Be Quiet!’s name is a bit interesting: An English name was chosen by a German company, and said name is in fact an exclamatory command to stop making any noise. The imaginative part of me likes to believe that Be Quiet! simply yells at coolers instead of performing R&D; regardless of how Be Quiet! develops coolers, they have a growing range of options at different performances, sizes, and prices. Most recently, Be Quiet! announced their newest CPU cooler -- the Shadow Rock LP.

The Shadow Rock LP is Be Quiet!’s attempt at a high-end, but low-profile CPU cooler. The Shadow Rock LP is~76mm high, but still is capable of cooling 130 Watts of heat, so more power-hungry CPUs will be fine. On the note of CPUs, the Shadow Rock LP supports all modern AMD and Intel sockets (Intel LGA 775, 115x, 1366, 2011, and AMD AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, and FM2(+)). The dimensions of Shadow Rock LP are 134  (L) x 122 (W) x 75.4 (H) mm. Note that the 9000 series will not play well with the Shadow Rock LP.

The Shadow Rock LP comes with a 120mm Pure Wings 2 fan that uses rifle-bearings. Be Quiet! provides a 3-year warranty.

Ultimately, Be Quiet!’s Shadow Rock LP looks to be a decent contender for HTPC and high-performance, small form factor PCs in particular, and has an MSRP of ~$52, although the American price may be slightly higher, due to extra costs associated with selling overseas.
