Valve Preps Final Steam Machine Launch, Teases "Unannounced SteamVR Solution"

Posted on February 24, 2015

Having surpassed 125 million users, Steam is the largest digital distribution platform in gaming. Given that Steam offers 4500 games and 400 million pieces of user-created content -- such as skins and weapons for your Valve games -- the attraction is no surprise.

Just over a year ago, Valve pushed to capitalize on their Steam-powered success. They announced the Steam OS, based on Linux and meant to be an all-in one media machine for the living room.

Now, to mark what feels like the 13th anniversary of Steam’s announcement, Valve is preparing to launch their newest hardware bundles for living room gaming. Coming up next week at GDC (Game Developers Conference) in San Francisco, Valve is showing off new “Steam Machines with the final Steam Controller, new living room devices, and a previously-unannounced SteamVR hardware system.”

This is some exciting news for those of you looking to use the latest steam software and hardware in your home. Stay tuned here at GamersNexus as we travel to San Francisco to provide you with the news as it unrolls at GDC next week.
