EVGA Supernova P2 PSU Now in New Capacities

The Supernova G2 power supply has been a go-to for our high-end PC builds in the past, offering highly efficient continuous power in a plus-sized form factor. An update to the power supplies brought along the P2 PSU, which has been shipping for some time in capacities up to 1600W – more than most American homes can supply from an outlet – and no lower than 1000W.

The freshly updated P2 PSU now ships in 650W, 750W, and 850W, in addition to the existing 1000W, 1200W, and 1600W units. All six offerings are 80 Plus Platinum certified, a step below the somewhat new 80 Plus Titanium certification. 80 Plus Patinum offers 92-94% efficiency at 50% load, matched against the 90-92% efficiency of 80 Plus Gold. For reference, an 80 Plus (without any metallurgy attached to it) PSU is rated as being 80-85% efficient at 50% load – a big jump.

EVGA's new P2 PSUs in the smaller (but still large) capacities are still completely modular, fit a smaller box, and offer EVGA's “ECO” mode for silence during low load times.

The PSUs should be available shortly, but existing models can be found here.

Steve started GamersNexus back when it was just a cool name, and now it's grown into an expansive website with an overwhelming amount of features. He recalls his first difficult decision with GN's direction: "I didn't know whether or not I wanted 'Gamers' to have a possessive apostrophe -- I mean, grammatically it should, but I didn't like it in the name. It was ugly. I also had people who were typing apostrophes into the address bar - sigh. It made sense to just leave it as 'Gamers.'"

First world problems, Steve. First world problems.
