Flash Deal: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Available for $180

Posted on May 7, 2013

We don't normally post individual hardware sales given the popularity of our weekend hardware sale round-up, but this one deserved early note. TigerDirect is presently running a promotion on EVGA's GeForce GTX 660 2GB video card for $180 after a $20 MIR and $30 "instant discount."

The sale comes at a time when nVidia's GTX 650 Ti Boost has been competing neck-and-neck with AMD's Radeon 7850 -- even on pricing -- with the 650 TiB and 7850 both averaging around $170 for the 2GB models. At $180 for a 2GB GTX 660 - which outperforms both the cheaper cards by a measurable distance - it's an obvious pick for anyone working on a build right now.

Today also saw leaks of nVidia's GTX 700 series (more on that soon), with the GTX 780 allegedly due out on May 23, from what we've been told by insiders. We're not sure how reliable these sources are, so don't hold your breath -- the GTX 760 Ti isn't due out until summer, from what we've been told. The step-up from the 660 (the GTX 760) won't see press until the latter half of the year, if then, and it'll likely be priced in the $250-$300 range. All this stated, we're (again) not sure how reliable these sources are, and the GTX 660 2GB card at $180 is still a fantastic deal. You can find the sale here.

I personally wouldn't hold back.
