Logitech Introduces G602 Gaming Mouse, G440, G240 Mouse Pads

Posted on August 28, 2013

Earlier this year, Logitech gave us a lot to be excited about when they released several new G-Series gaming peripherals, including two headsets, two keyboards, and four mice (G500s and G700s reviewed). Now heading into this weekend's PAX Prime, they give us another new mouse to gawk at, the G602, as well as two mouse pads.

The G602 is a mid-range wireless gaming mouse, best suited for FPS games. Like the G400s, the G602 is designed for high accuracy with a somewhat standard 2.4 GHz frequency signal and a 2ms report rate. What makes it different from other G-Series mice is its "dual-mode" button, allowing you to alternate between Performance (gaming) and Endurance (non-gaming) modes, giving you the best sensor performance when you need it and best battery life when you don't. The G602 is rated for 2500 DPI and has 11 programmable buttons.

Logitech's G602 is rated to give you 250 hours of nonstop gaming (in Performance Mode) between charges, so for anyone who is planning a 10-day gaming marathon, you've got one less thing to interrupt you (curse you, bathroom break!).

If you're content with your mouse, perhaps you'll want to look into one of Logitech's new mouse pads. The G440 is a hard surface mouse pad optimized for high DPI mice. Its 3-layer construction includes a polypropylene surface material with a polymer core to keep the pad rigid.

With a soft cloth surface, the G240 works better for low DPI mice, like Logitech's G100s and G602. Like other softer surface pads out there, it's got a rubber base to maintain the integrity of your mousepad -- but it's only 1mm thick, so it doesn't look straight out of 1998. The G240 and G440 retail for $20 and $30, respectively.

If you're skeptical of mouse pads improving your sensor calibration/detection, check out our conversation with Cooler Master.

The G602, G240, and G440 will be available in the US and Europe next month. For more info, visit gaming.logitech.com. Alternatively, check back after PAX for our on-site coverage. We'll have full reviews on all products as they become available to the media.

And since we'll be chatting with Logitech at PAX, let us know what we should ask them!
