Hardware Sales - Corsair K70 for $76, ASUS Z97 Pro, 1080p Display for $110

Posted on July 17, 2016

Pre-empting the release of the GTX 1060 and our forthcoming content push, this sales post stands as small, easily consumed content for the weekend. We spotted the ASUS VN248-P display for ~$110, a couple of Corsair products (750W PSU, $76 K70), and the ASUS Z97-PRO. Sure -- Z97 is so last-gen, but it's still a good platform for builders sticking to Devil's Canyon.

ASUS VN248-P 23.8” 1920x1080 Monitor ($110 after rebate): This is a regular old 1920x1080 monitor for a decent price, the kind that our Cheap Bastard’s Builds are designed for. The narrow bezel makes it a candidate for multi-monitor setups; on the other hand, be aware of the comparatively sluggish 5ms response time and the fact that there’s no DVI port (two HDMI, one VGA). 5ms is still within reason for most gaming, but it ultimately depends on the gamer and use cases.

CORSAIR CX750M 750W 80 Plus Bronze PSU ($55 after rebate): One of the more popular PSUs on Newegg is down quite a bit from its standard price of $100. It’s modular, 80 Plus Bronze certified, and has a generous selection of cables (has anyone ever needed two floppy connectors?). As always, check our hardware dictionary for a full explanation of PSU certifications.

ASUS Z97-PRO LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard ($123.24 with promo code EMCELFJ23): This coupon code works with a few other motherboards, but this particular one is already on sale for 15% off. The coupon expires on the 21st.

Refurbished Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red Mechanical Keyboard ($76): Refurbished products are always a gamble, but a solid lump of plastic and metal seems like a safer gamble than most. Feel free to check our hardware dictionary entry on Cherry MX switches to understand the different varieties, but in this case it’s Red or nothing.
