Hardware Sales - EVGA 1000GQ, TriStellar Case, ASRock Extreme4

Posted on October 16, 2016

We’re taking a brief break from our hardware facility coverage to bring you this weekend’s sales. End-of-year price cuts continue, as manufacturers try to clear their remaining inventory before the next quarter—which means discounts on usually expensive components.

RAZER Blackwidow Chroma RGB Gaming Mechanical Keyboard ($156 with Nabu or $140 without): There’s a decent $14 Newegg discount here, but the interesting part is the free Razer Nabu 2015 smartband included with every purchase—there must be a warehouse full of unsold stock. Probably multiple warehouses, actually. The keyboard itself uses Razer Green switches, roughly equivalent to Cherry MX Blues, and has RGB backlighting. A quick search on our site reveals that the Chroma has hardly dropped in price since 2014 (unlike the Nabu).

EVGA 1000GQ 80+ GOLD Semi Modular PSU ($90 after rebate): This is one of the pricier PSUs to appear in a GamersNexus sales roundup, but it makes up for it in quality. The unit may be overkill for a normal build, but any enthusiast who needs a 1000W PSU should also appreciate modularity and an 80 Plus GOLD efficiency rating.

ASRock Z170 Extreme4 LGA 1151 Motherboard ($97.50 after rebate & code EMCFEFT27): Under $100 for a modern ATX motherboard is a tempting deal. Given how delicate motherboards are, though, it’d be a good idea to test it thoroughly before taking advantage of the rebate.

DeepCool TriStellar SPCC Computer Case ($280.50 with code EMCFEFT25): The DeepCool “Trinity” case we covered back in 2015 is available separately under the name TriStellar, for a slightly more modest price (at the time, we predicted MSRP to be about $350). The same code works for a 15% discount on the more expensive “TriStellar SW” side-windowed version of the case—and really, what’s the point of buying a case like this if not to show off?

Check back this week for some reviews coverage.
