Magicka Devs Embrace Glitches, Release DLC + Song

By Published February 25, 2011 at 4:03 pm

When we first noted Magicka's buggy launch (which initially delayed the review process), we were certain that the developers would stick to their guns and work out the kinks. We've been following the updates closely, and in addition to our Top 7 Magicka Visual Spell Effects, we recently wrote about the free distribution of the game's music.

Earlier today, the Magicka team uploaded a new song to their site -- sort of an acoustic duel between an upset gamer and Vlad (the developer's representation) -- and it's fantastic; while nothing complex, the song perfectly mirrors the team's ability to take issues and turn them into something humorous and promotional. More interestingly to Magicka owners is the free DLC. According to the press release, the latest update includes 'free DLC' (as a reward for sticking with them through the bugs), and is detailed below:

1 Staff - "Bugged Staff" - summons a swarm of bugs.
1 Sword - "A broken sword"
1 Robe - "Patched Robe"
1 Magick - "Crash to Desktop - Magick  - zaps any foe (or friend)

From GN to the Magicka devs: please, for the love of brilliantly designed games, keep up the awesome work!

Steve started GamersNexus back when it was just a cool name, and now it's grown into an expansive website with an overwhelming amount of features. He recalls his first difficult decision with GN's direction: "I didn't know whether or not I wanted 'Gamers' to have a possessive apostrophe -- I mean, grammatically it should, but I didn't like it in the name. It was ugly. I also had people who were typing apostrophes into the address bar - sigh. It made sense to just leave it as 'Gamers.'"

First world problems, Steve. First world problems.
